• K T Dady – The Gatehouse Cafe.

    My Review…

K.T. Dady – The Gatehouse Cafe.

This was my first trip to the delightful Pepper Bay. Silly me! Why have I not read the whole series?
I will be going back and reading them all in order. Firstly because I know that I’m going to love them and secondly, although The Gatehouse Cafe read easily as a stand alone story, I know I would have got more from it had I read the whole series.

I loved Pepper Bay. Set on the Isle of Wight, K.T. Dady has created a wonderful community, with a big heart.

Vivien’s story was very moving. I think the author did a great job of conveying the desperation and the horror of Vivien’s home life, but without being too graphic or brutal with her language and descriptions.
She hit the balance just right for this genre.

I really felt for Vivien, and was rooting for her from the start. I crossed everything for her to find safety and freedom.

Finn was instantly likeable and had such a big heart. How could anyone not fall in love with this lovely man.

TheGatehouseCafe is a compelling read. Poignant, emotional, moving, hopeful, uplifting and empowering.

I thought it was a damn good read and I can’t wait to head back to Pepper Bay and its residents very soon.

    enjoyed when read in order.
The Gatehouse Café: Vivien leads a double life. A happy one the world sees, and a miserable one
that’s hidden away. Nobody knows what goes on in her home once she has closed up the café for the
day. She doesn’t think anyone will believe that her partner is a horrible person, especially as he is a
    policeman.
Finn has been secretly in love with Vivien since he was a teenager, but she’s only ever viewed him as
a friend. When he discovers she’s in trouble at home, he does everything in his power to help set her
free, because even if she never falls in love with him, she’s still his best friend, and she needs help.

    Gretchen Rue – Spell Bound.

    (Phoebe Winchester Mystery #2 )

If you enjoy a cozy mystery, this is a gorgeous series to lose yourself in.

SpellBound throws in all the magical ingredients.

There’s a dead body, an amateur female super sleuth – who may just be in the frame for murder herself, a dishy young private detective and some unresolved love.
This book brings it all together and creates something special.

I loved being back in Raven Creek, and can’t wait to return in the future for more delicious cozy mystery.

Helga Jensen – My Heart Is In Venice.

I’m rather partial to being whisked away to somewhere lovely. As I am married to someone who on a scale of 1-10 ranks about a 2 for imagination and spontaneity, Helga Jensen’s books provide a nice bit of sunshine and fun in foreign lands.

Helga Jensen paints a beautiful picture of Venice and dare I say, she does Wales justice too.

I thought Libby and Will were very well written characters. I empathised with a lot of their struggles. And gaped in shock at Will’s stupidity!

MyHeartIsInVenice is a fabulous read. It’s funny, sweet, emotional and relatable.

A damn good read, that I’d thoroughly recommend.

I loved being back in Sandycove. It’s such a warm hearted place, with a community spirit that will heal the most broken of hearts.

I enjoyed the journey that these four women went on. They are all very different, but their home and love bind them together.

    My Review…

Camilla Isley – Baby One More Time.

This is book two in Camilla Isley’s True Love series.
I must admit I haven’t read book one, but I certainly will be doing so.
Baby One More Time was easily read as a standalone book, but parts of it would have had more impact had I read its predecessor.
So, as always, I’d say read a series in order to get the most from the author’s hard work.

BabyOneMoreTime is a second chance, enemies to lovers story.

Poor Marissa, all she wants is a baby, but the man who she hopes will be able to help her to achieve her dream, turns out to be the very same man who broke her heart.

I did enjoy this book very much. It’s properly laugh out loud funny and even induced a few snorty laughs too.

  • Zetta Thomlin – The Trauma Effect.

    My Review…

Zetta Thomelin – The Trauma Effect.

This book fascinated me from the start.
I threw myself in, expecting the usual type of therapy book. How wrong was I!
Zetta Thomelin takes us on a very personal journey through her family history. In itself this is quite a tale, with a big, jaw dropper of a reveal. Zetta shares the trauma that has hung over her family for generations, and how it has affected them all.
After sharing her own story, the author delves deep and hits us with the therapy bit, which she delivers in a clear and concise manner.

TheTraumaEffect is compelling. Full of emotion and heartbreak. But equally it offers hope and positivity.

I’d genuinely recommend this book to anyone who has suffered from a personal trauma or who has lived with the impact of trauma through their family.

An enthralling and truly helpful read.
    ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

    Book Blurb…

Trauma is infectious, a canker that invades a family and can
    spread through the generations.
The Trauma Effect – Exploring and Resolving Inherited Trauma The Trauma Effect reveals a family secret, a trauma, a tragedy that felled a family, the book exposes uncomfortable truths and follows the journey of
recovery. Families have secrets, hidden traumas, the skeleton in the closet. We can inherit the effects of these events without even realising it, absorbing it
unconsciously, like a sponge absorbs water.
TRAUMA EFFECT My family has such a secret. I tell you my story in this book, my story as I
thought it, and then the truth of my story to help you to heal yours. 1 explore how such events can affect us, both psychologically and physically and take you on the journey of recovery, how to bring a full stop to that inheritance of shame, blame and guilt.
so the next generation does not have to carry the burden of it too. We need to do something about it, shine a light on it, take the skeleton out of the closet, dust
it down and bury it once and for all.

  • Jessica Redland – A Breath Of Fresh Air

    My Review…

Jessice Redland – A Breath Of Fresh Air.

Grab a cuppa, get yourself comfy and let million copy selling author Jessica Redland whisk you off to the beautiful Lake District for another captivating and feel good tale of love, friendship and mystery.

ABreathOfFreshAir is the second book in the Escape To The Lakes series.

It’s entirely readable as a stand alone story. However, book one, #TheStartOfSomethingWonderful is a spectacular book and thoroughly worth a few of your precious reading hours.

#ABreathOfFreshAir takes us back to the pretty village and community of Willowdale.
We catch up with previous characters, but this book is firmly Rosie’s story.
There is nothing to dislike about Rosie. She is a loyal friend, an excellent support to her mother who is struggling with her own demons and she has enough about her to stand her ground when necessary.

ABraehOfFreshAir has a strong and engaging plot.

I enjoyed following all the different threads and discovering their well crafted conclusions.
There is a cliff hanger, or you could call it a teaser for the next book. Either way, it’s clever and intriguing. Roll on book three!

Over all, this is another outstanding book from Jessica Redland. I was gripped by this well written story and can’t wait to head back to the Lake District for more.

Another credit to you Jessica Redland.

might look if things had been different. What if her father had been around to help care for her
mother? And what if she’d found someone special herself?
When Hubert Cranleigh – the owner of Willowdale Hall – is taken ill, his son Oliver steps into the

    when they have a history.
Rosie’s life is about to be turned upside down, but with the New Year comes new opportunities.
